A new post on tobacco legislation in our new Blog section on the website. Enjoy!
Tobacco is still the leading cause of preventable deaths and diseases in Canada (as reported by Health Canada). Although instances of tobacco use have decreased significantly, there remains serious concern around young peoples’ access to illegal and cheap tobacco products. Not only does this illegal trade threaten the health of our citizens, but it has also been reported as a “cash cow for organized crime” meaning that “criminal gangs use the profits from the trade to finance their other activities, including guns, drugs, and human smuggling.”
